What do you love about boxing? How did you get into training? What are you fighting for?

Boxing gave me an outlet to escape my mind. It allowed me to be fully present and leave behind the daily stressors that distract me from being the best version of myself even for an hour or two of the day. Oh, I also love to feckin punch things. I found a local gym in Ireland and used it to channel my energy ultimately taking a few amateur fights. That experience translated when I arrived in New York and continued to fight in the amateurs. I’m fighting for sanity, freedom from the voices in my head that tell me I’m not good enough and anyone who has ever been knocked down and wants to get back up.

Describe your style of teaching.

Energetic and intense. My goal is to drill the basics and build from there. Underlying all of that my hope is to share the joy and passion that comes with hitting the bag and mitts. 

Favorite type of music to play during class?

Ummmmm….Celine Dion but don’t worry we will give you plenty of hip hop and rock to balance it out.

Total beginner here! Laura is an incredible instructor who is both understanding and motivating. This class kicked my a$$ lol (haven’t worked out in a while) but I learned a lot and feel empowered! There was a hard cardio warm up at the beginning. I also liked the partner work. Everyone was super welcoming and encouraging!

Laura was great - connected, kind, and motivational. I really enjoyed the class. She did her best to be beginner friendly. I had a little bit of muay thai experience (different than boxing) and still found it to be a challenging class - but the type that makes you want to go back. Would recommend! A good combo of technique, practice, a little bit of partner work and bags. Good amount of warm up cool down exercises high cardio.

Laura’s class is always such a good way to start off the day! I love how she changes the routines up every week. At the same time she knows the levels of each person in the room so she adjusts to what we all need. Thank you for a great workout as always!
